This afternoon Year 1 have been creative artists! We looked at some interesting and beautiful shells and decided to draw them. We looked at them really carefully to make sure we were drawing what we could see, not what we thought we could see. What do you think of our art work? (We think it should be in a gallery!)
As part of our new topic, ‘By the Sea’, we wanted to research sea creatures.
We each decided which sea creature we wanted to learn about.
We read lots of information about our sea creature and wrote questions to find out more.
Then we went on the computers to research our questions.
On Friday we are going to write sentences using the facts which we have found out!
Year 1 Birch have loved learning about space and have become real experts. They shared their learning with the whole school in an assembly and last Friday performed for their parents and carers who were then invited back to class to share their learning. A big, “Thank you!” to everyone who came, you made the children’s day!

Whilst we were on our trip to Jodrell Bank, we learnt about Major Tim Peake’s launch to the International Space Station. We learnt about how the rocket lifted off into space and we had all had a go using a bottle filled with air. Watch our slow motion video!
