So after winning all 4 games tonight the Basketball team go back next week for the finals. Good luck to you all and watch this space to see how they get on.
Tuesday 24th January a team went down to Hyde Community College to take part in Handball a new sport in which they haven’t played before. The competition was part of the Hyde Schools Sport cluster group. So after drawing their first game. The team then went on to winning the rest of their games which meant they reached the final. This time it just wasn’t meant to be and the team finished 2nd place. The team had a great night and with the bonus of learning something new a big well done to all.
Here are just a few of our cross country runners from the 60+ children that took part on Friday. Even though the weather is getting colder and wetter cross country will still take place Friday lunchtimes but don’t forget spare clothes and trainers if you don’t want to get your p:e kit dirty and muddy.
Tuesday evening saw a lovely atmosphere in a sport that is not often played. What’s more important is that these tournaments continue to strengthen the bonds between the schools and the friendships that have formed over the past year! Needless to say there was some good play in the matches! A big well done to Dowson for winning (2nd year running) on goal difference. It was a very close competition with 4 schools finishing level on points and again pretty much perfect refereeing from the students at H.C.C.
So last night the tag rugby team went to Aldwinians rugby club to play in the Tameside schools final. In their group they won 2 games and drew 1. This mean’t that they went through to the semi finals. It was a tight game in the semi final which ended up a draw so an extra minute was played and unfortunately they lost by 1 try. A massive well done to all the team for making it to the finals you should all be proud of yourselves.
All the latest sports information will be published as and when it happens but don’t forget to look at the separate football, cross country and cheer leading page under the heading Sports at Dowson.
Last night saw the first Hyde School Sports tournament of the year. As ever it was a fantastic event with the skill level of the sport increasing each year we host it! It’s brilliant to see all of the children and the staff really enjoying it including the numerous referees, helpers and staff from H.C.C that facilitated the event! 56 children from KS2 and seven Hyde Primary schools all took part in a fantastic event with Bradley Green and Flowery Field ending the competition on equal wins and draws. A big well done to Bradley Green who won the competition overall on score difference!!
