  • Free School Meals

As you may be aware the Government is introducing a new benefit for children in school. It is called Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM). Schools now have a legal obligation to offer a free school lunch to all pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

This duty will come into effect from September 2014. To help us get organised for this big change we would like you to let us know if you will be taking up the offer of a free school meal. All parents must complete and return the slip below and return to school no later than Wednesday 11th June 2014.We need a firm idea of numbers to help us make sure we have enough equipment and food! Please be aware if you are entitled to claim Free School Meals it means that school will be able to receive Pupil Premium and that your child will receive many other benefits.

You must still apply for Free School Meals via Tameside. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me and I will try my best to answer them.

  • For Dowson parents

We use a payment service called ParentPay® as we work towards school becoming cashless. We offer this service for most of the events and clubs in school except Dinner Money.

Please note parents paying for child care with vouchers; your payment method remains the same.

To make a payment please click here:

If you do not have access to a computer please ask for your personal Paypoint Card at Reception.  It can be used to pay with cash at any shop displaying the Paypoint sign.

     Non-Dowson parents

If your child/children do not attend Dowson and you wish to use Parent Pay to cover the cost of attending the All Stars Holiday Club please click here:

If you require further details on our payment services please contact any of the school offices.

  • Parent Courses and Workshops

In this section you can find details of Adult Learning Opportunities available both at Dowson and in Tameside. Courses and workshops cover a wide range of topics from helping your child with their maths to parenting support, budgeting or cooking! Most courses and workshops are free.

We are delighted to inform you that we have invested in a new range of Parenting Workshop resources from Care For The Family.

The materials are current, entertaining and extremely practical. They are aimed at all parents regardless of your child’s age, ability or behaviour.

The entire range addresses concerns and difficulties in a realistic and entertaining way in order to empower parents through an understanding that “it’s not just us” who might sometimes find aspects of parenting challenging. The courses understand the pressure that parents feel under to make everything appear perfect and yet in reality this usually is quite impossible!

DID YOU KNOW, in a recent survey only 5% of parents had been on a parenting course, but 77% said they’d considered it?

We are going to launch the first session on December 8th at which we will be showing the DVD “21st Century Parent” (Click here for more info). This looks at the challenges facing parents in a modern world. Please help us organise refreshments etc. by booking your place. If you would like to attend but would prefer an evening workshop please let us know as we will be happy to facilitate an additional session if the demand is sufficient.

Further courses/workshops are detailed below and we will send out information before each course with regards to bookings. However, you can register your interest now if you would prefer to guarantee your place.
