Welcome to the homepage of the Dowson Academy Governing Body. The Governing Body of our school is made up of volunteers from a variety of backgrounds. For more information on the governors, use the Meet the Governors link below.

The Role of the School Governing Body

The school governors comprise of a group of individuals, who are elected, nominated or co-opted and are representative of parents and teachers and the Local Education Authority.

School governors work with the head teacher and are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the school. Meetings are held at least once each term.

The term of office for Governors is 4 years and there should be a total number of 15 Governors.
